WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades can give you an increase in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases item level by +3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.
The more modernized gear generally has a greater value for trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or very high stat variation (like eth titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as valuable for those with lower requirements due to the requirement to roll an exact version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrade r enables players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of weapon or armor. However, the item used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.
The upgrader is located in every major city, and is accessible at any time to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.
The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current level of the equipment being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.

Upgrades are functional items that can be used to upgrade weapons and tools, armor and other accessories. They can be purchased from item upgraders NPCs in a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot of the item and the current level of the item. For instance weapons cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

This could be by doing outdoor activities or taking on dungeons and raids of any difficulty to earn lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons with heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. These crests can be exchanged with an upgrader for the item, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and pathways.
The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, but it brings some changes to the upgrade process. For instance, when a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to upgrade their gear up to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.
It's also important to use crests wisely, as they only have one use. It's best to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly relevant for trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character, that will be able to avail the account-wide discount when all slots are filled with high-quality gear.
